PACCAR Australia will enter the full-service truck rental and leasing market in Australia with the launch of PacLease Truck Rental and Leasing Services later this month.
Headquartered in Bayswater, Victoria, the company will begin renting and leasing Kenworth and DAF’s full line-up of trucks from the joint Kenworth/ DAF dealership in Laverton, Victoria.
“Paccar Leasing is truly a global company and our new operation in Australia is an exciting addition to our portfolio,” Neil Vonnahme, President of PacLease commented on the move in a press statement.
“This year we will celebrate our 35th anniversary in business in the United States, and the 20th year of our operations in Mexico. In Europe, we’ve also been leasing DAF trucks throughout Germany since 2007. The move to Australia will continue our growth momentum.”
PacLease Australia will be headed by truck leasing industry veteran Olen Hunter, who was previously North American Director of Sales since 2006.
“I am extremely excited about the market potential in Australia and we are looking forward to providing excellent service to our customers,” Mr Hunter told CRTNews at the Brisbane Truck Show.
“We have begun to build our truck rental fleet suited for the Australian market and are proud to offer both DAF and Kenworth products to our rental and lease customers.”
The initial group of rigid trucks will be based on the DAF LF chassis and will be equipped with 14 pallet curtain-sided bodies and liftgates, according to Paccar.
“We have also commenced our first prime mover rental trucks which will come in two distinct configurations. First, our DAF FTT CF 85 prime movers have been spec’d for single trailer work and feature the Paccar MX-13 engine with 460 hp and a 12-speed automated gearbox,” Hunter said.
“Next are our DAF FTT XF105 prime movers, spec’d with 510 HP and a 16 speed automated gearbox which are well suited for local and intrastate B-Double trailer work.”
